Details
This is a smooth full grain leather guitar strap with a deep red "Ox Blood" shade with pronounce "pull up" finish ("Crazy Horse"), which means it will lighten for a time where it's been stressed (folded), adding additional character to its varied hues. It is supple, but medium temper and strong and minimal stretch, so should hold even solid body instruments without distortion of the peg holes. Though as any good leather does, this will ease in and relax with wear and use over the years, but its character will only improve.
This pull-up is obvious since shown on the second image, I had folded the leather at the logo, so it's much brighter in that area as compared the first image. This is also apparent in the adjustment strap, since after I rolled it up tightly, this 1" wide strap had more stress than the rest of the strap, and shows fine brighter lines in some images--see difference between #3 & #4. But due to the oils in the leather, as it relaxes or is rubbed, the darker tones will return.
If you don't like pull-up, then this is not the leather for you. I have other wine colored leathers that do not have this characteristic if you love the color but not the brighter stress lines.
The flesh side of this leather is fairly clean and smooth--and it will get more polished with wear, and slide more easily on your shoulder over time.
And the slot/adjustment strap weave design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored.
For a short time I can offer three length options in stock for the 2 1/2" wide version, and one 2" wide (customization is always an option, though), and all adjust by the inch:
STANDARD is total of about 47" to 58"
SHORTER is about 4" less, for total of about 43 to 54"
LONGER is about 3" longer than standard, so is about 50 - 61".
TRAVELER is 2" wide and is the shorter length, about 43"-54"
(I may not be able to restock this leather, so if you like it, don't wait!).
My standard sizing for the peg holes is the FRONT peg hole is punched at 5/16", and REAR peg hole is 3/8". Each end has a small slit that ends with a small hole for a "keyhole" effect to prevent tears and to make the strap easy to install & remove. The hole and can accommodate most pegs, but remains securely in place. These sizes are based on Taylor & Martin acoustic guitars, so if you have a specific peg size or strap locks you need to fit, please let me know and I will it suit the size you need.
The main strap is hand cut to 2 1/2" wide and tapers slightly at either end. And STANDARD is about 42" long and the SHORTER is about 38" long for the main strap only. I soften the cut edges with a small bevel tool, so there is a gentle transition from the top surface to the edge.
I cut the adjustment strap to about 22", with about 18" to the peg hole, so the overall length can be adjusted from about 47" to 58" between the peg holes for STANDARD, and 43" to 54" for SHORTER length with eleven 1" wide slots punched in for the adjustment strap to weave through to set your size.
And since I cut these myself, I can easily modify the length, width, or spacing to get the fit that works for you--but please inquire, since options will be limited by how much of the hide I have left. Or you can ask me to add another holes in the adjustment strap (tail) for finer adjustment as you wear it in.
This is also laser etched a few inches above the front peg hole and on the adjustment strap with my Acoustic Needle logo. I can leave the logos off, or add personalization/custom artwork by either silk screening or laser etching, and covered in listing "Custom artwork on plain leather strap", but feel free to ask me any questions. And if personalized, I usually include my logo only on the adjustment strap, unless you ask me not to include it there.
I can also provide coordinating leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. There is no extra charge for these when you order the strap, but please note in the order you want it included.
