This all leather guitar strap is made with a rainbow foil snake scale pattern on buff cowhide layered over a thick stellar blue cowhide. The pattern has solid foil scales mixed with those made of tiny dots, so the foil catches the light and eye, yet is not glistens, rather than reflects light back (the photos with multiple angles and folds of the strap demonstrate how the colors & iridescence varies with the angle to the light).
I've opted to cut the end along the scales, for a zig-zag shape.
The section of the pattern used represents both the belly scales and side/back of a python, but not a type to be found in any existing jungle...
This is 2" wide, but the 6-6.5oz thick base leather is strong to support full size acoustic (may stretch with a solid body), but also the narrower width may be more comfortable with lighter weight instruments, such as traveler sized guitars, ukuleles, and mandolins. And the length is my "standard", with adjustment from 48" to 58" long. (I can't add a 'shorter' slot to the the main strap, but another hole or shorter adjustment strap can be used if 48" is too long for you).
This exotic finish leather is glued & edge stitched to the main cowhide strap with yellow thread on top and a blue bobbin thread to blend with the leather underside. The adjustment slot area is left plain to show off the main strap leather, which is matte look and slightly oily feel--and this can get smoother and darken as its used and rubbed against. And as its oil tanned, it is easy to rub a scuff out that occurs on the surface.
The main strap is hand cut to 2" wide, and tapers to about a 1 1/2" radius for the front peg end, and down to 1 3/4" width on the slot end.
The overall length of this strap (hole to hole) as shown is adjustable from about 48" to 58". The main strap is about 42" long, and the 11 slots are spaced from about 30" to 40" from the front front peg hole.
The 1" wide adjustment strap is 18" from slot to its rear peg hole when installed, but it can be shortened or another peg hole added if you need an even shorter length. (I refer to the front peg hole being on the main strap, and the rear is the adjustment slot).
The adjustment strap is made with the same leather as the main strap so it can weave through the adjustment slots easily, but it is still firm, and will not stretch. The edges are trimmed with a small radius bevel tool to soften the look. The hide is through-dyed, so it is consistent color on the edges as on its soft suede split underside.
The 1" wide adjustment strap loops through the chosen slot and is woven through the other slots to provide the desired length and fixes to the back pin on the guitar. And I've laser etched my Acoustic Needle brand logo onto the exposed section above the peg hole.
The holes for the pegs are punched at 5/16" in the front, and 3/8" in the back, and a small slit ends with a small hole at the top of the slit to prevent tears & the "keyhole" effect makes the strap easier to install & remove, and can accommodate most pegs. The firm leather and stitching around the front peg hole keeps strap to remain secured once it's fitted fully in place.
This design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored.
I can also provide leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. And if you have a specific peg size you need to fit, please let me know. There is no extra charge for enlarging the peg holes, or adding extra on the adjustment strap, or for the ties when you order the strap, but please note in the order if you want any of those changes.
