Details
This all leather guitar strap is made with an Asian style floral print on thin honey cowhide and is applied to a full grain green cowhide strap, coordinating with the shades in the print. The printed leather is fully glued & edge stitched, with additional stitching around the front peg area, but leaving the slot area to show off the main strap cowhide with gentle arc shaped seams.
The print is shades of blues, reds, lavenders & greens for the blossoms with brown branches & background woven over a honey colored leather base. I have not applied any edge dye, so you can see the difference in shading of the two thru-dyed leathers from the side. I have edge stitched with a dark green thread to coordinate with the leathers.
The base layer is called "military crazy horse", and it starts out firm, but the more it's handled and used, the suppler and more flexible it will become, and the "pull-up" effect begins to show as it eases in and takes on a natural distressed look with age. Though it can be rolled tight, it does not stay so when pressure is removed (such as the evidenced in my last photo).
Please note the strap in images has sold, but is representative of what you will receive, but due to pattern variation, what you may receive could be a little different...
The overall length of this strap is my "standard" and is adjustable from about 48" to 59", though it can be made shorter if requested on order.
The strap is 2 1/2" wide, and tapers slightly to about a 1 1/2" radius for the front peg end, and down to 2 1/8" width on the slot end.
The holes for the pegs are punched at 5/16" in the front, and 3/8" in the back, and a small slit ends with a small hole at the top of the slit to prevent tears & the "keyhole" effect makes the strap easier to install & remove, and can accommodate most pegs. The firm leather and stitching around the front peg hole keeps strap to remain secured once it's fitted fully in place.
The main strap is about 42" long, and has 12 slots spaced from about 28" to 40" from the front peg hole. The adjustment strap is 18" from slot to its rear peg hole when installed. (I refer to the front peg hole being on the main strap, and the rear is the adjustment slot).
The 1" wide adjustment strap is made with the same leather as the main strap so it can weave through the adjustment slots easily, but it is still firm, and will not stretch. The edges are trimmed with a small radius bevel tool to soften the look. The hide is through-dyed, so it is consistent dark brown on the edges as on its soft suede split underside.
I've laser etched my logo onto this smaller piece, and may also be ink stamped on the underside of the main strap.
This design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored. And for this one I have ink stamped my shop name/logo on the underside of the main strap and laser etched my Acoustic Needle logo on the adjustment strap.
I can also provide leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. And if you have a specific peg size you need to fit, please let me know. There is no extra charge for enlarging the peg holes, adding an additional hole in the adjustment strap, or for the ties when you order the strap, but please note in the order if you want any of those changes. Alas since the strap is already made, I cannot make existing holes any smaller...
