This strap has an unique camo-like pattern made from different densities of glittery green ink or foil layered on black thin suede for contrast in color and texture. My first impression of it was trees, not traditional camo, due to the elongated shapes, so I'm calling it "tree camo" due to the color and shape.
The color and sheen shifts from dull golden to almost neon green pending the angle to the light and its source. I've tried to capture this liveliness in some of the photos with different angles of the camera or leather to the light with the same strap arrangement, as well as different strap positions (I use natural light, and I don't filter/alter my photos!).
This amazing thinner cowhide is glued and edge stitched on a smooth full grain black cowhide that is strong and supple, and 5 oz thick (3/32"). This leather from the famous Sepici tannery is vegetable tanned and is the first black I've found with the "pull-up" feature, so it is not as deep dark black as other straps I make, adding another contrast element to the green on black suede. This leather is also kind of floppy--it's not stretchy, but very, very supple, and likes to move on its own, and will make a very comfortable guitar strap!
I have also stitched around the front peg hole to ensure the layers don't separate with repeated install/removal from the peg. This leather will settle in with use, like all good leather does, but it will not stretch out! The peg hole might distort a tiny bit with a solid body, but not enough to threaten the security of the precious being supported. The special finish leather also adds a bit of firmness to the front portion of the strap.
I make these my standard length, unless otherwise requested, and the overall length can be adjusted from about 48" to 59" between the peg holes, and eleven slots about 1" apart to weave the adjustment strap through to adjust the length to suit. The holes for the front peg is punched at 5/16", and rear tab is 3/8". Each end has a small slit that ends with a small hole for a "keyhole" effect to prevent tears and to make the strap easy to install & remove. The hole and can accommodate most pegs, but remains securely in place.
The main strap is hand cut to 2 1/2" wide and tapers slightly at either end, and is about 42" long. I have softened the cut edges of the main strap exposed on the slot end and the adjustment strap with a small bevel tool, so there is a gentle transition from the top surface to the edge.
The 1" wide adjustment strap is cut to about 22", or effectively 18" from slot to the button hole.
Since I cut these myself, I can easily modify the length or either strap, or spacing of the peg holes to get the fit that works for you. If you have a specific peg size you need to fit, but please let me know if you need a longer strap before you order--I need to verify I have enough on-hand to do so, and the price will be a little higher when more leather is involved!
This strap has my Acoustic Needle logo etched on the adjustment strap.
The design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored.
I can also provide coordination leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. There is no extra charge for these when you order the strap, but please note in the order you want it included.
