This all leather guitar strap is made with an iridescent sparkle dots in wing patterns printed over brown cowhide that is layered over a soft & supple lavender cowhide. This strap is 2 1/2" at its widest, and adjusts from 48" to 58" long.
It looks like glitter, but doesn't leave the glitter in its wake! It is an iridescent foil print over a brown base, and is quite smooth. The brown provides a nice contrast and disappears behind the sparkle of the wings patterns.
The tiny foil dots catch the light and eye, and varies from silver to all colors in the rainbow pending the angle to the light. It glistens, rather than reflects light back (the photos with multiple angles and folds of the strap demonstrate how the colors & iridescence varies with the angle to the light).
This special leather is glued & edge stitched with lavender purple thread. The special leather only covers up to the top slot, leaving the adjustment slot area to show off the main strap leather, and matching adjustment strap.
The main leather is a thick cowhide with slight nubuck, or brushed finish, though this may smooth down and darken with use and oils. It is a thru dyed leather, and there is some very subtle variation is the shade of the lavender, with some areas being bluer--but on very close examination only. The base leather is about 8oz (1/8" thick), and with the overlay is 9.5 oz (5/32" thick), and will support solid body as well as acoustic instruments easily. Even though this is thick, is is very supple and soft temper, so it can roll up tight to fit in your case, and comes in a cotton drawstring bag. (Please note the photo of the tight roll is of another overlay leather on this lavender base).
The strap is hand cut to 2 1/2" wide, and only tapers to about a 1 1/2" radius for the front peg end from about 5" from the end, and down to 2 1/8" width on the slot end.
The 1" wide adjustment strap is made with the same leather as the main strap so it can weave through the adjustment slots easily, but it is still firm, and will not stretch. The grain side edges are trimmed with a small radius bevel tool to soften the look. The hide is through-dyed, so it is consistent on the edges as on its soft suede split underside.
The overall length of this strap as shown is adjustable from about 48" to 58". The main strap is about 42" long, and the 11 slots are spaced from about 29" to 40" from the front peg hole. The adjustment strap is 18" from slot to its rear peg hole when installed. (I refer to the front peg hole being on the main strap, and the rear is the adjustment slot).
The 1" wide adjustment strap loops through the chosen slot and is woven through the other slots to provide the desired length and fixes to the back pin on the guitar. And I've laser etched my logo onto the exposed section above the peg hole.
The holes for the pegs are punched at 5/16" in the front, and 3/8" in the back, and a small slit ends with a small hole at the top of the slit to prevent tears & the "keyhole" effect makes the strap easier to install & remove, and can accommodate most pegs. The firm leather and stitching around the front peg hole keeps strap to remain secured once it's fitted fully in place.
This design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored.
I can also provide leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. And if you have a specific peg size you need to fit, please let me know. There is no extra charge for enlarging the peg holes, or adding an additional one, or for the ties when you order the strap, but please note in the order if you want any of those changes.
