Wood Grain Patent Brown Leather Guitar Strap

DetailsThis leather guitar strap is made with a very unique patent lambskin leather that looks like highly polished wood, but it is soft and supple! To play up the wood joinery effect, I have squared off my usual curved front peg end, and the end at the slots, adding a punched cut out to reveal the brown base layer before the slots start.
This special finish leather is glued & edge stitched to the main cowhide strap, leaving the adjustment slot area to show off the main strap leather. I have used a brown thread that blends with some of the darker wood tones in the wood grain patent leather. The base leather is a soft full grain chrome tanned cowhide, and the flesh side (underside) is a bit fuzzy, but very soft. The adjustment strap is cut from a different section of the hide and not quite as fuzzy, and may appear slightly darker pending the light & angle.
The two layers together are about 8 oz (9/64" thick), and the brown base leather on its own is nearly 6 oz (3/32" thick). This strap is very strong and firm enough for solid body instruments. And the layers together will roll up so you can store it in your guitar case, or into a small bag (such as the cotton one included).
The peg holes are 5/16" in the front, and 3/8" in the back, and a small slit ends with a small hole at the top of the slit to prevent tears & the "keyhole" effect makes the strap easier to install & remove, and can accommodate most pegs. The firm leather and stitching around the front peg hole keeps strap to remain secured once it's fitted fully in place. There is no extra charge for enlarging the peg holes (i.e. for strap locks) or adding a second or smaller hole in the adjustment strap, but please note in the order if you want any of those changes!
The overall length of this 2 1/2" wide strap as shown is adjustable from about 48" to 58". The main strap is about 42" long, and there are 11 slots are spaced 1" apart for adjusting by weaving the 1" wide adjustment strap. This narrower adjustment strap has its hole about 18" from slot to its rear peg hole when installed.
The main strap is hand cut to 2 1/2" wide, and tapers only from 5" to the front end to about a 1 1/2" radius for the front peg end to maximize the pattern, and just slightly on the slot end. I've matched the front taper for the back of the glitter layer where it ends before the slots.
The 1" wide adjustment strap is made with the same leather as the main strap so it can weave through the adjustment slots easily, but it is still firm, and will not stretch. The edges are trimmed with a small radius bevel tool to soften the look. The hide is through-dyed, so it is consistent color on the edges as on its soft suede split underside.
I have etched my Acoustic Needle brand logo on the adjustment strap, and stamped my shop name on the underside.
This design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored.
I can also provide leather "laces" of the base leather if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. And if you have a specific peg size you need to fit, please let me know. There is no extra charge for enlarging the peg holes for a stock strap, or smaller holes if a custom/made to order, or for the ties --but please note in the order if you want any of those changes!
