This unique guitar strap is made with smooth tomato red cowhide, about 7 oz thick, with an inset of a thin leather with Asian style floral print on white background.
The main strap is 7oz cowhide, hand cut to 2 1/2" wide and tapers slightly at either end, and is about 42" long. The floral print leather insert into a "frame" that is about 18" long and 1.75" wide, starting at 6" below the first slot, and tapering to maintain a the frame width of 3/8" down the front, ending at 5" above the front peg hole. I used a golden orange thread for a double row of top stitching, picking up the color accenting the petals in the print.
The floral print leather is printed on 2oz white leather, and is left unbacked, so it is a bit floppy across the width, but it's a firm leather, and with the thick frame, the strap is still firm and will hold its shape when used. It's been glued and then the two rows of stitching to secure it to the base strap.
The tomato, or orange-red, hide is not thru-dyed, so on the edges, or cross section, you can see white center. And along the insert, there are four layers, from the top down is red, white, red, and white. I have softened the cut edges of the strap with a small bevel tool, so there is a gentle transition from the top surface to the edge.
Eleven adjustment slots are cut about every 1", and the 1" wide adjustment strap loops through the chosen slot and is woven through the other slots to provide the desired length and fixes to the back pin on the guitar.
I cut the adjustment strap to about 22", with about 18" to the peg hole, so the overall length can be adjusted from about 48" to 58" between the peg holes. But since I cut these myself, I can easily modify the length or spacing to get the fit that works for you. Or you can add more peg holes in this back strap for finer adjustment as you wear it in.
The holes for the front peg is punched at 5/16", and rear tab is 3/8". Each end has a small slit that ends with a small hole for a "keyhole" effect to prevent tears and to make the strap easy to install & remove. The hole and can accommodate most pegs, but remains securely in place. If you have a specific peg size you need to fit, please let me know.
This is also laser etched a few inches above the front peg hole and on the adjustment strap with my guitar strap specific brand logo, Acoustic Needle. Even though I wash the soot from laser etching off the leather, so none comes off when its handled, apparently the soot dyed the etched areas, so the logo appears nearly black.
The design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored.
I can also provide coordinating leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. There is no extra charge for these when you order the strap, but please note in the order you want it included.
