This all leather guitar strap is made with a silver-iridescent foil polka-dot pattern on black cowhide layered over a smooth black cowhide. The dots are about 3/16" diameter, and each is of many dots that almost seem at different angles, so pending the light and viewing angle, the colors vary greatly. I didn't capture an extreme side side to get all the red--it really does change throughout the spectrum like mini prisms.
And it really only comes alive when its seen from the side or bends--front-on view it is silver dots on black, but move it a bit, or squint, and the colors come alive. I took the photos to try to capture this with multiple angles and folds of the strap demonstrate how the color & iridescence varies with the angle to the light--as well as a few slightly out of focus since the camera would flatten the colors that you see in person... (If you ever wear glasses and recall looking at a lit up christmas tree without them, and then with your glasses, you'll understand the difference).
This printed leather does shed glitter a little bit, so not only will it leave an impression visually, but may leave a few glittery bits (though it is fairly easy to clean up, unlike most craft glitter).
This exotic finish leather is glued & edge stitched to the main cowhide strap, leaving the adjustment slot area to show off the main strap leather.
The overall length of this strap as shown is adjustable from about 48" to 58". The main strap is about 42" long, and the 11 slots are spaced from about 29" to 40" from the front peg hole. The 1" wide adjustment strap is 18" from slot to its rear peg hole when installed. (I refer to the front peg hole being on the main strap, and the rear is the adjustment slot) and it loops through the slots at 1" intervals to provide the desired length and fixes to the back pin on the guitar.
The main strap is hand cut to 2 1/2" wide, and tapers to about a 1 1/2" radius for the front peg end, and down to 2 1/8" width on the slot end.
The 1" wide adjustment strap is made with the same leather as the main strap so it can weave through the adjustment slots easily, but it is still firm, and will not stretch. The edges are trimmed with a small radius bevel tool to soften the look. The hide is through-dyed, so it is consistent color on the edges as on its soft suede split underside.
And I've laser etched my logo onto the exposed section above the peg hole.
The holes for the pegs are punched at 5/16" in the front, and 3/8" in the back, and a small slit ends with a small hole at the top of the slit to prevent tears & the "keyhole" effect makes the strap easier to install & remove, and can accommodate most pegs. The firm leather and stitching around the front peg hole keeps strap to remain secured once it's fitted fully in place.
This design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being moved or stored.
I can also provide leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. And if you have a specific peg size you need to fit, please let me know. There is no extra charge for enlarging the peg holes or for the ties when you order the strap, but please note in the order if you want any of those changes.
