Soft and supple "deer tanned" black cowhide forms this cross-body bag with an insert in the flap that is a bird skull & multicolored garland on grey wool with white & black accents.
This bird skull pattern is from Urban Threads, and is machine embroidered onto the stabilized wool (remnant from a blazer project). The inset is about 4 1/2" square.
The flap is secured with an antique nickel corset lock, which has a loop to ensure the hook stays in place on the post. Antiqued graphite rivets secure the lock to the bag.
The bag body is just over 9" tall, 6" wide, and 2 1/2" deep. The 3/4" wide strap adjusts from 45 to 56" with 1" increments with an antiqued nickel buckle. Black snap hooks connect to the gun metal d-rings on the bag.
The attachment points for the d-rings to the bag are glued and stitched over the gusset for a very secure fitting. The gun metal rivet under the d-ring is mainly for accent, and the d-rings won't come loose if the rivets work free (though that is very unlikely).
The flap is lined with a smooth thin gray cowhide, sandwiching the thin foam padding that backs the embroidered insert. It's been seamed onto the back to help form the top and support it, and the curved shape is accented with diamond punched "eyes" backed with the same gray leather used for the lining.
There is also an internal pocket made with using this gray leather stitched in place. This is over 5" deep and wide, so can easily accommodate most phones or small notebooks, keeping them easy to find.
