Black Lace over Yellow Leather Guitar Strap

Black Lace over Yellow Leather Guitar Strap

Ask a question

This guitar strap is one to get notice, as it's made with a laser cut black lambskin "lace" wrapped over yellow lambskin that is glued and edge stitched onto a smooth & firmer black cowhide used for the main strap & adjustment strap. The black has a slight sheen to it, more of a buffed finish than polished appearance as on another other hide I've used and is shown in other listings.

The "lace" overlay is only stitched to the yellow and the cowhide base strap along its perimeter, so additional dimension is added as the strap moves and the lace moves (slightly) over the yellow. Stitching along the perimeter only also keeps the strap very supple and comfortable to wear.

The main strap is hand cut to 2 1/2" wide and tapers slightly at either end, and is about 42" long. I have softened the cut edges with a small beveler, so there is a gentle transition from the top surface to the edge. The lace section is about 28", leaving the front peg hole and all the slots to show the plain black strap.

Eleven adjustment slots are cut about every 1", and the 1" wide adjustment strap loops through the chosen slot and is woven through the other slots to provide the desired length and fixes to the back pin on the guitar. This adjustment strap has been laser etched with my logo.

I cut the adjustment strap to about 22", so the overall length can be adjusted from about 48" to 60" between the peg holes. But since I cut these myself, I can easily modify the length or spacing to get the fit that works for you. This main leather is just over 0.09" (2.2mm) thick, and will settle in with use, like all good leather does, but it will not stretch out with use! The edges of the overlay are just over 0.2" since both lambskins have folded edges, but 0.15 in the center, where there only only 3 layers.

The holes for the front peg is punched at 5/16", and rear tab is 3/8". Each end has a small slit that ends with a small hole for a "keyhole" effect to prevent tears and to make the strap easy to install & remove. The hole and can accommodate most pegs, but remains securely in place. If you have a specific peg size you need to fit, please let me know.

The design means the strap is only leather, and there is no metal or plastic hardware that could annoy you while you're playing, or your knock into you instrument while it's being played, moved or stored.

I can also provide coordinating leather "laces" if you prefer to tie the strap to the neck of the guitar, rather than using a front peg. There is no extra charge for these when you order the strap, but please note in the order you want it included.
